Infertility and Hashimoto’s. How are they related?
This post is a little personal. But I want you all to know about this stuff – because it’s important.
A few weeks ago my dear friend Briana interviewed me about my experience with infertility and Hashimoto’s (which I didn’t know I had when I was trying to conceive).
Included in this lovely interview: how thyroid hormones (or lack thereof) can really mess up your whole body, how important it is to find support and a doctor who will listen, what labs to check if you want to confirm or rule out thyroid issues, and the importance of changing batteries in smoke detectors every fall. You can watch this interview here:
Thank you, Briana, for your caring, gentle inquiries as well as your welcoming presence, especially considering the sensitive nature of this topic. If any of you are experiencing infertility issues, I highly recommend you reach out to Briana for a chat.

For more info on thyroid labs and testing, please see this post. I also talk about why Levothyroxine or Synthroid may not be working for you in this post (also mentioned in the above video).
And a reminder, I am not a doctor – I do not recommend or interpret labs. A good functional medicine doctor will be able to read labs from a functional viewpoint as mentioned in the video above.
You can find the Facebook group that I mention, Hashimoto’s 411, here.
MY OFFER TO YOU.
I would love to be a support to you, no matter what challenges you are dealing with at this time.
As your coach, I will listen deeply, offer empathy, and help you make sense of what’s going on in the world right now. We can talk about anything that’s on your mind:
- creating new habits – or maintaining current habits
- work challenges – either working from home or being out of work
- figuring out how to best spend your time with your now at-home children (and still retain your sanity)
- fears of starting a new career
- how best to manage stress
- guilty feelings about cheating on your diet
- fear around changing your diet
- feeling ok doing absolutely nothing for a while
- creating boundaries with family, friends, and co-workers
- helping you create structure in your life and a plan moving forward – whatever that may mean to you
- help you regain control if you are feeling out of control
- giving yourself permission to just be – no matter where you are in your life.
